man we're excited to welcome in a new year. 2008 was full of some rough times and we're ready to put all of that behind us. of course we had to sit down and write out our new years resolutions.
lori
-plan ahead for birthdays: send cards in advance!
-learn how to use my camera on manual settings
-no more pulling out my eyelashes: seriously, why do i still do this? not anymore
-drink more water
-eat more healthy and start walking on my lunch break
-read scriptures daily
-stay in touch with family better
-be content with our current situation
nate he may or may not have actually written these himself:)
-take out the trash more often without being asked
-buy more spontaneous gifts and flowers for my wife, particularly anything from home goods or photography lenses
-sleep less in sacrament meeting
-keep studying hard
-read scriptures ar night with lori
-go to bed at a decent hour
-watch less ESPN
paisley
-don't escape from my kennel anymore (came home last week and she had eaten her way through the chain link and had managed to open the door from the garage to the house and was chillin inside. should we call her houdini or marley?)
-don't fart so often (sorry but so true)
-stay on my bed when people are over...so HARD
before i post this and nate reads it and gets mad at me for outting him on the blog, i thought i'd better include a side note of how wonderful he is. he makes the bed pretty much every single day of our entire marriage. i think that i may have made it maybe 2 times in 4.6 years. no lie. he does the laundry a lot of the time. he tells me he loves me every single day even when i'm screaming at him and then he even buys me flowers. anyways, you get the picture...he's a good guy.
to celebrate the new year, we went to a posh restaurant in fells point called meli. it was fabulous. we ordered scallops, lobster, filet mignon, pork tenderloin (with the cutest little quail egg you've ever seen... and topped it all off with creme brulee and some creme pastry that was delicious. so yeah, it was a bit of a splurge but it was fun. i'm pretty sure that i was the most underdressed person in the entire place. some ladies looked like they were wearing their prom dresses. the servers handed out hats, crowns, noise makers, and we all did a "champagne" toast, excepts our brought us sparkling water. sadly, the fireworks in the harbor were postponed due to excessive winds.
here's to 2009!..."the year of years" as joe is calling it.

Yes, to the year of years! I too am ready for a great year! Looks like you guys had a great time, hearing about your fabulous dinner makes me hungry :). And I love the resolutions - perhaps one of these days we will come up with some.
You look so cute in that picture. I like your resolutions. Especially "being content with our current situation". I hear ya sister. I need that one myself.
Lori, I pull out my eyelashes too!! I am so glad someone else does that. I think it is some kind of weird stress reliever. That restaurant sounds awesome too.
Lori, email me at gunnhp@hotmail.com so I can go into detail about photography without writing a book here on the comments, or just leave your email address in my comments, etc.
Gosh, I didn't even think about making a bunch of New Year's resolutions....
I guess it will have to wait another 11.9 months.
I think that it is funny that you pull out your eyelashes.
Thanks for celebrating the New Year with us!! That was so much fun. Oh, and thanks for sharing your lobster, Nate!
Nate wouldn't have to make the bed so much if he didn't stay in it till noon. Just kidding, he probably gets up at the crack of dawn to study spontaneous dental hydroplosion and crap. And no fair that you pull out your eyelashes and you still have that many. I wonder if they'd take over your face if you left them alone. Hmmm.
Nate what great resolutions you made! Maybe I should follow your example Lori and post my resolutions for the year that way I've got some accountability! I've only got three in hopes I can accomplish all of them! Happy New Year!
oh, I forgot, your new background looks really nice!
That dinner sounds crazy. As for the New year's resolution thing, I ditched it a long time ago. That way, I don't have to be disapointed when I forget and I just say, this year I'll do better. Good luck, I think you'll do great! And don't be just content, be happy! You'll someday look back when you are up to your hips in dirty laundry and you have to make your own bed and wish for JUST a farting dog who escapes and a very hard working husband who sometimes forgets to take the trash out, but manages to bring home flowers! It could be worse!!
Sounds like a fun dinner! I hope your year is great!! I love the new picture you have of the two of you as your banner!
Hi Lori,
I came across yours and Joe's blogs and since my husband, kids and I are planning a trip this summer to D.C., I was wondering if you would be around to visit. You will probably be in Arizona while we are out east! But email me, maybe we can work something out. I don't think I have seen you since Eric and I were spending our wedding giftcards and you and Nate were registering for your wedding! Edith Edith.Morris@gmail.com
Whatever. It just so happens that I know plenty of people who have not yet had children. My kids will have plenty of playmates. Assuming that the people I know don't live in MARYLAND forever...
It's good to know that Tilly's cousin is just as sneaky as her. Tilly loves to chew up the chain link and frankly I'm tired of zip tying it down. So now she gets to spend her time in her small travel kennel inside when I run errands cuz she can't really get out of that,(yet anyways).
We missed seeing you guys over the holidays, maybe some time soon we can get together.
Thanks for sharing your frustrating story. It made me chuckle, especially your exasperation and wonder at why you even typed it all out for me in the first place. Glad you found it.
Lori you are so cute! I am glad you had such a fun New Years'! How fun! I loved reading about all your resolutions. I love that you posted them on your blog- what a great idea. 2009 is going to be awesome- I just know it!
Your goals sound great. I hope 2009 is full of happy days for you and Nate.
